IT Schools Africa Charity Quiz Night

The London Inn pub, in Charlton Kings was packed out on Thursday 12th July, with 79 people making up 20 quiz teams, all vying for a place as champion at the IT Schools Africa charity quiz night. Quiz masters Justin Richmond of Techop and David Jordan of Skylight9 fronted an entertaining evening of fun and entertainment with the addition of live music, food and a silent auction.

Mr Ratcliffe MBE, Chair of the Trustees for IT Schools Africa, opened the evening and warmly welcomed all the guests.

The quiz night aimed to raise £1000 for IT Schools Africa towards a school IT lab in Malawi. People certainly dug deep on the night as the final total raised on the evening was an impressive £1,784.80 almost double the intended target. The funds raised was made up of impressive ticket sales, a popular raffle and silent auction with prizes including a Dell laptop. This is an amazing achievement and it has been confirmed that IT Schools Africa’s manager in Malawi will now get started on the project at Bangula Secondary School and will share the results of the finished project in due course.

Jenny Evans Marketing Co-Ordinator at IT Schools Africa commented that

The school IT Lab in Malawi will transform their current facilities, providing ICT access for hundreds of students. The student’s education and lives can be transformed through education – breaking the cycle of poverty. Thank you to our partners Techop Solutions who have chosen IT Schools Africa as their charity of the year and for kindly arranging this fundraising evening.”

Thank you to everyone who was involved in making the evening great fun and most importantly hugely successful in raising vital funds for IT Schools Africa and the school IT lab in Malawi. The generous support received over this event is truly appreciated.
